India, Israel Complete Second Round of Free Trade Agreement Talks

India and Israel have concluded the second round of negotiations for the proposed India-Israel Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The talks were held from 20 to 23 July 2026 at Vanijya Bhawan in New Delhi, where both sides discussed all major areas of the proposed agreement and made further progress toward a balanced and comprehensive deal.
The negotiations were conducted under the Terms of Reference (ToR) signed in November 2025. The framework is guiding discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, economic cooperation and the overall economic partnership between the two countries.
According to official data, total merchandise trade between India and Israel stood at USD 3.93 billion in FY 2025-26. The proposed FTA is expected to create more opportunities to expand bilateral trade, investment and economic integration by building on the strengths of both economies.
During the four-day discussions, technical experts from both countries held detailed meetings on trade in goods and services, rules of origin, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, technical barriers to trade, intellectual property rights, customs procedures, trade facilitation, economic cooperation and other chapters of the proposed agreement. Both sides worked to narrow differences and identify areas of convergence.
India’s Chief Negotiator, Additional Secretary in the Department of Commerce Shri Ajay Bhadoo, reaffirmed India’s commitment to securing a balanced, comprehensive and mutually beneficial agreement. Israel’s Chief Negotiator, Ms. Yifat Alon Perel, Senior Director, Trade Policy & Agreements and Deputy Trade Commissioner at the Foreign Trade Administration, Ministry of Economy and Industry, welcomed the progress made since the first round and stressed the need to maintain momentum.
Both countries also reiterated their commitment to working towards the early conclusion of a balanced, comprehensive and mutually beneficial Free Trade Agreement that will further strengthen bilateral trade, investment and economic ties between India and Israel.
