In a concerning development, Mumbai police have initiated a probe following a threat message received on social media regarding a potential disruption during the World Cup semi-final clash between India and New Zealand scheduled in the city on Wednesday.
The threat, posted on X on Tuesday, included an image featuring a gun, hand grenades, and bullets, prompting authorities to heighten security measures in and around the Wankhede Stadium, where the high-stakes match is set to kick off at 2 pm on Wednesday.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has been enlisted to assist in the investigation, with a 17-year-old youth from Latur district already detained in connection with the threat. The motive behind the message is yet to be determined.
